Denver L. Clifford faces the possibility of spending the rest of his life behind bars after pleading guilty to five counts of armed robbery Friday. He is a Marion resident and is 61 years old. Delaware Circuit Court 1 Judge Marianne Vorhees set a Sept. 13 sentencing hearing. The judge will announce at that time whether she accepts the terms of a plea agreement that calls for 15 other charges pending against Clifford to be dismissed. According to Indiana Department of Correction records, Clifford was released from prison in June 2006 after serving terms for armed robbery convictions in Madison and Fayette counties. He received a 50-year sentence for the 1981 Madison County conviction, and his most recent arrests led to his parole in that case to be revoked.
