Century-old light house might be given away by feds

A 100-year-old light house on Lake Michigan may be given away by the federal government. The 55-foot tower located on the east side of Michigan City’s breakwater will be offered free of charge to federal, state or local agencies and non-profit corporations.  Fred DeVries of the city’s historical society says whoever buys the landmark must use the lighthouse for education, park, recreation, cultural or historic preservation purposes.
