Bush Declares Disaster in Some Counties Because of February Blizzard

On Monday, President Bush declared an emergency exists in the State of Indiana and ordered federal aid to supplement state and local response efforts in the area struck by record snow and near record snow during the period of Feb. 12-14.  The President’s action makes federal funding available to the State and eligible local governments in Grant and 33 other counties that were hit by the Feb. 13 blizzard and ice storm. For example, Marion recorded 14.5 inches of snow during the blizzard, that hindered travel, canceled schools and closed businesses for several days.
