Murder trial wrapping up

Closing arguments take place Monday in the Grant County murder case involving a Gas City woman. The defense rested Friday in the case against Joyce Hawkins, who is accused with shooting and killing her husband Timmy Ray Hawkins in March of 2004. Joyce Hawkins told police she shot her husband as they sat in his semi tractor-trailer, burned his body and then drove the truck to the I-69/State Road 38 interchange in Pendleton. His remains and a murder weapon have never been found. Witnesses for the defense testified last week they’d seen someone who looked like Timmy Ray Hawkins in various locations after he was reportedly killed.
