January 5, 2005 – if you lived in East Central Indiana on that date two years ago, you remember what was going on. A huge ice storm caked tree limbs and power lines with at least a half-inch of ice. 90% of Indiana-Michigan’s cutomers in the region lost power. I&M spokesman Jim Riggle says company officials learned they need to better communicate with customers. Meanwhile the company’s tree-trimming program continues. Riggle says it’s only 20% complete.
Delaware County Emergency Management Director Bill Gosnell says they’ve improved the Emergency Operations and 911 Communications Center in the basement of the Justice Center in the two years since the storm. He also says lines of communication need to be better with community agencies, although they were already pretty good before the ice storm struck.
