A Muncie man who is charged with confining three residents and participating in torture has been released after two years of incarceration. Benitez L. McCullum and co-defendant Robert A. Walton face 25 charges including aggravated battery. McCullum allegedly struck a victim with a shovel while Walton used a nail gun to torture a woman. McCullum’s lawyer’s request to release him was granted under a program that lets authorities track defendants with GPS devices. McCullum’s trial is scheduled for August 4th and Walton’s on July 9th.
