The Muncie Sanitary District is paying city police officers thousands of dollars to guard demolition sites in the Whitely neighborhood. Chief Joe Winkle says the officers are there to discourage vandalism of property and equipment. So far, the district has paid more than 11-thousand dollars this year to watch the properties.
