In Gaston, the police chief has been fired in the midst of a reported State Police investigation. The Star Press reports Carl Barber was terminated at a Tuesday night meeting of Gaston Town Council Members. Barber’s attorney claims the board did not take the proper steps to dismiss the chief. No word on what circumstances lead to his dismissal.
