The goal is $1.2 million for this season’s 2017 United WayCampaign Kick-Off. Officials made the announcement recently at a block party in Muncie. The Muncie Journal reports the mission is to end generational poverty first by bringing all third-graders in Delaware County up to grade-level reading standards by 2024—a pivotal indicator of a child’s success in school and life.
