The head of the Muncie Area Career Center says she will step down at the end of the month. Jo Ann McCowan tells the Star Press her departure is unrelated to the school district’s financial struggles, including state takeover threats, and plans to close three schools. She also says she’s had alot of calls since the superintendent proposed closing the facility recently as one measure to help ease some financial burdens. The school board did not approve the proposal.
