Environmental Officials Halt Work At Indiana Steel & Wire Site

Work has been stopped at the former Indiana Steel and Wire facility on Muncie’s east side after workers there dug up concrete pads, potentially disturbing contaminated soil. State environmental officials confirm the work has been stopped at the site pending further state review or action. The city hopes to turn the East Jackson Street site into the Kitselman Pure Energy Park.
