A New Castle woman is dead after a car accident in Shelby County over the weekend. It happened about three miles east of SR 44, when 26-year-old Heather Poe veered across the center line to avoid rear-ending the car in front of her and was struck by an oncoming pickup truck. Its driver and passenger received minor injuries; Poe was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say a pair of motorcycles and four riders may have played a part in the crash.
