The Pipe Creek Fire Department, assisted by other northern Madison County departments, spent several hours battling a house fire in the 10700 block of North 23rd Street. Officials say water had to be shuttled into the scene by tankers from Elwood, Summitville, and Lafayette Township fire departments. No one was injured. Damage to the home was reported to be extensive.
