Steve Fields – former Mount Pleasant Township official – was found guilty of misdemeanor battery and was sentenced to 180 days of probation. The judge also ruled that the battery case would be dismissed upon his successful completion of probation. Not so fast says the Delaware County Prosecutor’s Office, who filed a motion to correct error, maintaining the judge did “not have the authority to withhold judgment or sentence.” A new sentencing hearing for Fields has been set for March 18.
