The Indiana Department of Correction is no longer operating “DOC Assist” homes in Muncie’s Old West End neighborhood. Two homes in that area had been used as temporary housing for recently released sex offenders- without the knowledge of their neighbors. A spokesperson for the DOC says there are no longer “assist facilities” in Muncie or Delaware County and there are no such houses in Blackford, Henry, Jay or Randolph counties.
