A Portland man has been charged after he was accused of attempting to kill his wife. 46-year-old Gordon Jaquay is charged in Jay Circuit Court with three counts of attempted murder. His wife of 13 years says she believes her husband beat her over the head with a metal pan and laced her iced tea with rodent poison. Jaquay – who allegedly admitted to the acts to police – was being held at the Jay County jail under a $100,000 bond.

The City of Indianapolis will not be hosting the Democratic or Republican National Conventions in 2016. Marc Lotter, spokesman for Mayor Greg Ballard says the city won‘t be submitting bids for either convention. Lotter says the city is already committed to hosting the NCAA Men‘s Final Four and NCAA Women‘s Olympics Trials among other events.
