It will be one high school for Muncie. In last night’s vote on consolidation, the Muncie Community Schools administration presented to the board a “one high school” option. Four board members – Debbie Feick, Tony Costello, Robert Warrner and Michael Long — voted in favor of one high school. Board President Beverly Kelley was the lone dissenting vote. Next school year, Central and Southside will merge; Southside will become a middle school with Northside remaining as the other middle school. Wilson Middle School will be “mothballed” until a decision could be made on its future.

About 1,800 Ball State University students take introductory astronomy courses each year, which is higher than the number taking such classes at IU, Purdue and Notre Dame combined. The City of Indianapolis will not be hosting the Democratic or Republican National Conventions in 2016. Marc Lotter, spokesman for Mayor Greg Ballard says the city won‘t be submitting bids for either convention. Lotter says the city is already committed to hosting the NCAA Men‘s Final Four and NCAA Women‘s Olympics Trials among other events.
