Mallard Lake in Madison County has been purchased by Bex Farms, an affiliate of Best Way Disposal. The company made the announcement yesterday and says it has no plans to develop the property as a landfill. Best Way’s immediate plans are to rent the tillable land to local farmers and explore opportunities with local governments and other interested parties for other uses of the property, including sale, lease or development.

The Delaware County Treasurer is facing 46 felony charges related to mismanaged public funds. Treasurer John Dorer surrendered Monday after prosecutors filed the charges.
